Drumming has become synonymous with Alchemy’s after-school program. Our youth have shown an uncanny ability to master the rhythms of Africa while experiencing a sense of enjoyment in their expression. Drumming provides the youth with an opportunity to feel the rhythm of life; they beat in unison, as a community, yet still remain individuals.

  *Our After-School Program is presently conducted at Perkins Middle School in Akron, Ohio and is funded by the Robert A. Kutz Foundation, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, The Akron Community Foundation, The City of Akron’s Housing & Community Services Program and The City of Akron and Akron Community Foundation Neighborhood Partnership Program, and individual donations.
